A bit of freeway within the US state of Colorado has been completely destroyed by two boulders “the dimensions of a constructing”, officers say.

The street was hit by a slide “consisting of grime, rock and two big boulders”, the Colorado Division of Transportation stated.

Pictures posted on its Fb web page present a trench 8ft deep (2.5m) left by the boulders.

The street between the cities of Cortez and Telluride is closed indefinitely.

The heavier boulder is estimated to weigh virtually four,000 tonnes and measured 50ft (15m) in top and width.
