Troopers within the German military prevented a possible motorway catastrophe once they introduced a runaway lorry to a halt after its driver collapsed in his cab.

They realised there was an issue once they noticed the lorry collide with the central reservation on the A4 autobahn close to Gera in jap Germany.

The lorry was going slowly by roadworks however they feared an accident.

One of many troopers tried to clamber into the cab and when that failed they drove in entrance of the lorry.

A physician was shortly on the scene however the driver, 67, later died.
